About Fillers for the Face
As you age, the underlying structure of the face can change and skin loses its elasticity.
Fillers are designed to restore youthful fullness and contour, reducing the appearance of sagging skin and facial folds.
- Fillers are most commonly made from hyaluronic acid, which isn’t an “acid” at all
- Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the skin, where it primarily acts like a sponge and helps absorb moisture
- Hyaluronic acid used in fillers is a colorless, soft gel specially manufactured to last in the skin
- Fillers can give your face a rejuvenating lift – without surgery:
- As you age, the pads of fat beneath your cheeks diminish, which causes the appearance of sagging skin
- Fillers like JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA, and Restylane® Lyft restore this structure, lifting and contouring your cheek area
- This lifting effect can also reduce the look of folds around the mouth and sunken eyes (tear troughs)
- For best results, experts recommend addressing the loss of structure first, then filling any folds and lines that remain
- Fillers can also be used to improve the appearance of:
- Smile lines around the mouth (nasolabial folds)
Vertical lip lines (smoker’s lines) can be treated with a small molecule hyaluronic acid filler that can fill in those small fine lines. Change to Vertical lip lines (smoker’s lines) can be treated with Volbella, Restylane Kysse, and Restylane Silk, which are small molecule hyaluronic acid fillers that can fill in those small fine lines.
- Marionette and corner lines (vertical lines extending from the corners of the mouth)
- Lips
- Tear troughs (sunken or raised areas underneath the eyes)
- Skin texture can be improved with Skinvive, the first and only hyaluronic acid microdroplet injectable indicated
to improve skin smoothness of the cheeks.
What to Expect with Fillers
Filler injections are among the most common cosmetic procedures. Some important considerations are:
- Small needles inject the gel beneath the skin to add structure and fill wrinkles
- Most fillers contain a numbing agent called lidocaine to reduce any discomfort
- If you have an allergy to lidocaine, please notify us and we can arrange for nonlidocaine formulations
- Treatment is relatively quick, and most people can return to their normal activities afterward
- It is normal with all injectable procedures to potentially experience mild swelling, redness, and some discomfort;
applying ice can help - These symptoms occur for only a short period of time
- It is normal with all injectable procedures to potentially experience mild swelling, redness, and some discomfort;
- Results are instant and natural looking; how long they last depends on the area treated
